Mission
Casa Iskali strives to be a "space where everyone can feel welcomed, loved, forgiven, and encouraged" (Evangelli Gaudium, 114). Casa Iskali is a space for retreats, spiritual renewal, formation and community.
HISTORY
The Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart opened the Cabrini Retreat Center in 1957 to serve the spiritual needs of the Missionary Sisters and the wider community. They served more than 250,000 guests over the years. Faithful to Mother Cabrini’s desire to provide care to those most in need, the Center‘s ministry to teens and immigrants remained a top-priority.
In 2021, Iskali, a Catholic nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the Hispanic community, acquired the retreat center and re-opened it as Casa Iskali. Iskali is continuing the work that Mother Cabrini began over a century ago in Chicago: welcoming immigrants and training leaders in the Catholic faith community so that they can flourish.
Casa Iskali will continue to be a preeminent retreat center and conference space in Chicagoland, even as it expands the mission of the retreat center to focus on Catholic faith-based retreats for the growing numbers of Hispanic young adults. With its convenient proximity to the O'Hare airport, Casa Iskali is an ideal location for national leadership gatherings.
